Online education is becoming very popular these days. It fits very well into our age of technology and computers. Online degrees are being earned more and more each day. Online degrees have been around for a while now, probably about ten years now. Actually, I bet it has been a little more than ten years. I started college about ten years ago, and I can remember seeing advertisements for online education back then. I suppose I could even assume that the websites were first launched even before that. From what I can remember, the first one that had commercials was the University of Phoenix. The University of Phoenix is still going strong with its online degrees, and I am sure that the website has grown and expanded since its inception years ago. Online degrees are also available in more fields now then when online universities started. I am not positive, but I believe that because of new technologies, online degrees have been able to encompass more diverse fields of studies. Using video broadcasting, live chats, blogs, RSS feeds, and other similar technologies, online degrees have been able to expand to include many other majors. It is still hard to have practical, hands on majors available with online degrees, but who knows, that all may change one day. The classroom and university of the future might look completely different than the one of today. There might be a day when you can earn any degree that you can think of online. That day is no upon us yet, but I am sure as each year goes by, more degrees will be available online. Online degrees might also combine and mix with standard universities in the future, creating a hybrid of sorts. I can see this outcome happening more than strictly online degrees in any possible subject. Some classes could definitely be possible in a strictly online setting, but others not so much.
